What is pH Meter Table Top?
pH Meter Table Top is a bench-type laboratory pH measuring instrument used to test liquid samples. The pH electrode is dipped into the sample, and the instrument displays the pH value on the digital display.
The pH value indicates whether a liquid is acidic, neutral or alkaline. A pH value below 7 indicates acidic nature, 7 indicates neutral condition and above 7 indicates alkaline nature. Table-top pH meters are widely used for sample testing because they provide convenient operation and better laboratory handling compared with simple manual pH paper testing.
Why pH Meter Table Top is Used
- To measure pH value of liquid samples in laboratories
- To check water quality in RO and water-treatment plants
- To test chemical solutions during preparation and process checking
- To verify treated-water and effluent-water samples
- To support quality-control testing in industries
- To perform routine testing in educational and research laboratories
- To provide a clear digital pH reading instead of colour-based indication

Difference Between pH Meter Table Top and Online pH Meter
A pH Meter Table Top is used for laboratory sample testing. The operator takes a liquid sample, dips the pH electrode into the sample and reads the pH value on the instrument display.
An online pH meter is installed in a control panel and connected to a process pH electrode for continuous pH measurement in a tank, pipeline, flow cell or treatment plant. Online pH meters are used where continuous monitoring is required, while table-top pH meters are used where sample testing is required.
Difference Between pH Meter Table Top and pH Controller
A table-top pH meter measures and displays the pH value of a sample. A pH controller measures pH and also provides relay output for acid dosing, alkali dosing, alarm operation or automatic process control.
For laboratory testing, a pH Meter Table Top is suitable. For automatic dosing or continuous process control, a pH controller is required.
Compatible pH Sensors and Electrodes
A table-top pH meter requires a compatible pH electrode. The pH electrode should be selected according to sample type, temperature, chemical compatibility, connector type and cable length.
- pH Sensor and Electrode – Replacement electrode for pH meters and pH controllers.
- Table-Top Laboratory pH Meter – Laboratory pH meter for sample testing.
- Digital pH Meter Online – Panel-mounted pH meter for continuous online indication.
