How the Digital pH Meter Works

A pH meter measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution based on the concentration of hydrogen ions (H⁺):

• pH < 7.0 → solution is acidic (high H⁺ concentration)

• pH = 7.0 → solution is neutral

• pH > 7.0 → solution is alkaline (low H⁺, higher OH⁻ concentration)

The pH electrode has a special glass bulb:

1. When the electrode is dipped into the solution, hydrogen ions interact with the glass membrane.

2. Inside the bulb, there is a reference solution (usually near pH 7).

3. The difference in hydrogen ion concentration inside and outside the glass bulb creates a small voltage (potential difference).

4. The Digital pH Meter Online measures this voltage and converts it into a pH value shown on the LED display.

Calibration Process – Digital pH Meter Online

Use this step-by-step process to calibrate your pH meter in New Delhi or any site:

1. Clean the pH Sensor / Probe

5. Confirm Calibration

   • For better accuracy, repeat the above steps once more (7.00 pH then 4.00 pH) and verify both readings.
